At the aid station of the race, Dev sits and thinks. And later, we witness his conversation with a sadhu who has helped him find a sense of self and spirituality. The sadhu tells Dev that he should be proud to be born Hindu and can find God through his physical way of life and good deeds. Dev is like, \"So, I just have to practice all these good deaths and become spiritually pure to discover grace?\" The sadhu surprises him that it's all about learning to live a nicer life. Whether you act nice or not is not the most important. It's learning to act nice to people, having compassion and loving them. Dev is confused that a high moralist like Guru would agree with the random, meaningless acts by the priest dude. Again, the most pointed, emotional and impressive scene of the movie is this in the Hindu temple. Guru explains to Dev why things are the way they are. He shows Dev how people with no virtues are revered. Not by the priests, but by the townspeople who believe in God and his existence. Dev surrenders his ego and weakness and realizes his humanness. He has never felt like he is living right and follows Guru's instructions in life. So, he cleansed his body and face of all dirt and garbage. At the temple theatre, he is shocked to see a news report of the movie. He watches it so rapt. Dev sees himself as lucky-gifted, a star-that he is and how the people he touched is so lucky. He praises Guru for transforming his life. Guru gives him a much needed spiritual reflection. But, he turns around and shocks him by explaining that they are all controlled by destiny. If Dev is so lucky in his life, it's not because he was born lucky, everyone is lucky. It was just fate. One, two, three, Dev finds himself staring at dead bodies and food that he threw away. He sees a potato and a banana in the house garbage. He examines both, concludes that they got cooked and thrown away in the garbage, and feels bad. He wonders why he didn't eat them instead of just throwing them away. He rushes to the phone booth, calls home to tell his mother that he feels bad about trashing the food. He feels worse when no one answers the phone. He sits there and think if his mother is sick maybe he should go to her. He gets up, and he sees the ice cream containers on the back seat. 7211a4ac4a
