The next day, the five adventurers woke up early to board the mission to Hamunaptra; as they entered the car, Dr. Bey pointed out that O'Connell's team was supposed to meet them, and assured them that Imhotep was just a name, that it was up to them to take care of the mummy.
The team fought their way through a shrine in the desert known as "The Angry God" - it was the descendants of the ancient Egyptians who became its priests. At the end of the temple, they ran into a group of bandits, and were in a fight with them when Ardeth Bay appeared. The bandits begged them to rescue their women and children who were imprisoned in the main temple. When they went to rescue them, they were attacked by Imhotep, who promptly engaged them in combat. As he spoke, Evelyn looked at his staff, which she recognised as the one given to her by the Priestess of Ra at Hamunaptra. Imhotep was able to separate her from the others, and by striking him with that staff, she was able to temporarily defeat him.
Ardeth Bay and some bandits ran off, but Imhotep was able to catch up to Evelyn and stop her from rescuing "his" wives and children. He revealed the reality of who they were dealing with: Imhotep was not the Ancient Egyptian god he represented himself to be, but rather a creature that was a result of the marriage between Anck-Su-Namun and Imhotep. He had planned to use them and their descendants as a power base, but didn't reckon on Evelyn reading the Book of the Dead and finding out about the babies he had incubated. Now he intended to kill them by having Imhotep-Anck-Su-Namun as his host once again. The thief Imhotep the first told her how he'd met the goddess Anck-Su-Namun, which was the way he'd fought his way into becoming Imhotep. Once she learnt how she'd mistakenly healed him, the three men decided to rescue her and burn the book.
The original Steins;Gate game has a decent story with around 8-10 hours of campaign and at least forty more to be found in sidequests. The story in the sequel, however, does not match that in the first game, although there are no major differences in story. The first game and Steins;Gate: The Movie, however, have older stories, where the original is the first in the series to be released, compared to the sequel. If you liked the first game then you may want to start there, if you didn't like the first then start with Steins;Gate: The Movie, as it's the first. d2c66b5586
