You need a key for the software, then each video has it's own key. When you install either they register on a Tacx server before the software can be used. The key for the video is then apparently tied to the trainer software licence.

I didn't feel the need to go out on the road after getting mine. Great tool in my opinion and well worth £65 ( providing you have the appropriate tacx turbo trainer to use it with) otherwise it's no good to you anyway. It's not just a DVD to play as you ride on a different trainer.
As of January 1st, 2020, the ability to unlock Tacx trainer software 4 ended. This software will operate as normal after this date; however, in the event that it needs to be installed again, you will not be able to do so.
Most older Tacx trainers that connect to the TTS4 software can only communicate to a computer via ANT+ technology. My solution involves Chromecast hardware and the software Mirroring360 ($12/device), and there is no lag with great picture clarity. There are a couple caveats. It is $12 per device so if I wanted to setup on my MacBook, iPad, and Android phone the total would be a total $36.
