The CBR was my second bike. When I began riding a few years ago I drooled over a Red, White and Blue, CBR600 at the local Honda Garage but at that time could only afford a Fazer 600. Though not a Fazer review, it was a great bike, did 25,000 hard commuter miles through all weathers, and was a hoot to ride. But, like us all, there's always something else you think is going to be better than what you have. Faster, better looking, more flattering to your skills, etc, so a year ago I bought a Red, White and Blue F1. Initially I was disappointed. Where had that lovely mid-range gone I had come to enjoy with the Fazer. I was pretty fed up and thought I'd bought a dud. Of course I had tried the other 600's (6R, GSXR, 600 & 750, plus a VFR800), but I let my heart rule the decision. Anyway, there wasn't a fault with the bike, it was a fault with the rider. To get the most from these bikes, you have to ride them way up in the rev range which tends to mean going everywhere too fast, but.... Strengths: OK, so it's not the greatest 600, my new ZX6-R is, but, what a bike. Re-tune your attitude and get the thing revving and it's fast enough. The suspension is compliant over bumpy roads and adequate on the track and when the pace picks up in the corners. Reliability is incredible, as is it's dual purpose ability. Through on some luggage and a pillion, dial in the MP3 and off you go. The bike is comfy like the ZX6-R wouldn't believe. It's a great package and good value for money 2nd hand. Weaknesses: Spark plugs are hidiously expensive for a 600. The feel from the brake lever is so-so, although the breaks are quite strong. Other than that, it's all good! 153554b96e
