In July 2015, a geothermally heated geological fault in California's Death Valley sent a massive glacial rock fragment more than 120 mm (4.75 inches) long into the air at a speed of 240 km/h (150 mi/h). If it hit a person it would injure or kill them, and if it hit a vehicle it would flatten it.[261] The San Andreas Fault is in a region of California known as the San Jacinto Range, which is geologically complex. Geological faults occur in segments of the range, and the San Andreas Fault is among four faults in the region. It is the longest active fault in the state.[262] The fault is 45,000 years old, and has slipped thousands of times since its last major displacement between 400,000 and 600,000 years ago.[263]
September 15^th^, 2014, The Telegraph reported that a team of Japanese robots has defeated human players in the game of poker, becoming the first ever machine to score a victory against the odds. The team, consisting of 14 machines, is made up of six machines which use blackjack as their game, two machines which use roulette as their game, four machines using the card game 21 and a last machine which uses Texas hold'em, in which players fold, raise, and call against rival players' hands. Although the team will continue to seek tournaments, their greatest ideal is the field of Auction Houses which have "three-card straights and a pair-of-deuces-against-the-world odds."[264] d2c66b5586
