In this tutorial I will first explain the Active-RC low pass filter. Then I will give you the command I used to configure my Low pass filter for active mode with a 6dB/octave slope. The actual formulas to calculate the values of C1, C3 and C5 are also given.
To connect multiple low pass filters in a daisy chain, a common gateway at the output of each low pass filter must be used. This is to make sure the output of each low pass filter is connected to the next filter in series, and that each low pass filter receives the same output reference from the common gateway. The output reference of each low pass filter will be the output of the common gateway, plus or minus the low pass filter's attenuation.
For example, 0.001 dB of attenuation is the sum of 0.001 dB + 0.00 dB + 0.01 dB = 0.002 dB of attenuation, which is the 4-stage low pass filter shown in the figure. The attenuation of 0.001 dB is always applied to both the output of the common gateway and the output of each low pass filter. For a single low pass filter, daisy chain is not necessary.
With the method of cascading, the output of each low pass filter is connected with its corresponding input. When signal is received from the preceding stage, it is added to the previous stage. If the input signal is added to the output of the preceding stage, the output of the preceding stage will reach the total output. With the same input signal, the output of each low pass filter will reach the total output. d2c66b5586
