The first commercial disk drive was developed by IBM and Engineering Development's (EDI) Kiel Disk System Division. In late 1957, a K-system prototype was demonstrated at the IEEE Design Automation Conference, and, in the spring of 1958, a follow-up prototype was sent to IBM for testing, and EDI received an order for 60,000 drives at $20,000 each. This first unit was the first disk drive to use the self-flying head, which was created by Honeywell for use in the 1305 disk storage.[14] IBM first activated the disks on its ROMAC computer and the IBM 701 in August 1958.[15] HP used a similar design in its disk storage subsystem, first used in the 930.[16]

The functions don't have parameters, and the number of ports are fixed, so if you want to see if a port is connected to another port, you'll have to go through the ports. Also, "if any" is not the same as "if it's not null". Also additional comments are only valuable if they're easy to understand. A 100 line function without comments is a pain to read, and it's even more so if it's non-trivial to understand what the code is doing. d2c66b5586
