Today I installed Windows 8 Release Preview on my laptop in a production environment. All went well until I installed the fingerprint reader driver (Validity Fingerprint Driver) from HP web site (this driver is for the Windows 7). When installation and initialization of the fingerprint reader was finished, I did restart after which Windows would not start, screen just flashes. Only you can do is to restore you system to the earlier time or like in my case, install your Windows 8 RP from the scratch and find appropriate driver. It was easy and if you have HP Elitebook 8560w you can download appropriate driver for fingerprint reader from here.
Hi CarlosAs you said, when you install HP Protect tools you have to have big issue. The driver is ok, but you need to install other sw to logon with fingerprint reader. This is link when you can download appropriate driver and software also. =186 . This is driver and sw for W7, but works on W8 like a charm ;).
To make a long story short: I am trying to deploy Windows 7 Enterprise x64 onto an HP EliteBook 8560w laptop, using WDS on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, with Driver Injection as our means of driver installation on the image.. Everything installs fine, except for the USB3.0, fingerprint, and wi-fi drivers. Running on a deadline here, I am trying to get these stubborn drivers to install silently to the image from a network share, with the designated Msiexec switches (since they're packaged as msi's as well) in the unattend.xml of the image. So if my share were, say "\\ABC" then my lines in the unattend would look like the below:
We were able to resolve the problem with the fingerprint scanner driver. To get this working, we actually staged the driver in the image itself instead of adding it to the driver set in Windows Deployment Services. Machines that don't have the fingerprint reader wont actually use the driver, but every computer with a reader recognizes the driver and the software suite will run its configuration wizard if the user has credentials to allow it. The driver has worked across multiple platforms including HP and Fujitsu and different models.
I have the HP Probook 4230s with this fingerprint sensor and am moving away from Windows 10 to Ubuntu. I have the same issue. No drivers available. I found 32-bit .rpm drivers from HP site. But it wont work on Ubuntu 16.04 64bit even after converting it with alien.
I got this Validity fingerprint reader working on Ubuntu 16.04 x64 following this guide: -495-finger-print-reader-not-working-in-ubuntu/924475#924475basically fixing some minor issues and using files from this original tutorial: -validity-vfs-495-fingerprint-reader-working-in-ubuntu-14-04/
Download the latest and official version of drivers for HP EliteBook 8560w Mobile Workstation. This driver package is available for 32 and 64 bit PCs. It is compatible with the following operating Systems: Windows. Don't worry if you don't know what's your operating system. HP website will automatically detect your device and select the best installer for your OS.
Is there any build in UI for that kind of hardware like it exist in Modern UI for WiFi, Bluetooth, Broadband mobile and other common settings or I'm forced to use separate software (besides the obvious drivers for hardware)? The thing is that I have build-in fingerprint reader in my laptop and I have installed all necessary official drivers for it (and it looks like they are working fine, btw). But I did not find any UI settings where I could change Sign-in option from password/picture password/pin to fingerprint.
Firstly - all credits for the solution belong for Axel Foley with his awesome post Quick-guide for Validity fingerprint device drivers and SimplePass software Windows 7 and Windows 8 (only for HP Notebooks) on Notebookreview's forum. 2b1af7f3a8
