Dr. Cabbie is a well rounded comedy mostly focused on the city of Toronto. Canadian citizens, anyone who's been to Toronto or Canada, or anyone who's been to the city of Toronto knows how the city is. Each of the characters, especially the main characters, are very well rounded. The Canadian main character Dr. Deepak Chopra deep in depressions after graduating from his university finally lands at his Uncle's Indian restaurant in Toronto and does a fine job but he does not get his passion back which is to become a real doctor rather than a taxi owner. But fate intervenes in the not so friendly form of a new cabbie who convinces him to become a taxi driver. The plot is original and quirky, although the exaggerated characters which are what most comedies go after seem a little overwhelming to some. It goes a little overboard with the characters who seem funny in real life but turn into quite comical in the movie. So, if you've seen a lot of other comedies this one is for sure a quirky comedy that will appeal to all who appreciate a good laugh.
Basically this is the story of a real life mug. Dr. Deepak Veer Chopra (or should I call him Dr. Shoe Knife) amicably works at his uncle's restaurant and takes a PTO (or Personal Time Off) to go to the city of Toronto in search of a better future. Dr. Chopra meets an Indian cab driver who convinces him to become a taxi driver and thinks he's got a good life. Dr. Chopra has a lot of heart but is a little complicated, back in his home country he was a top academic who had not gone to medical school although he thought he had a good chance of being able to become a real doctor once he got to Canada. Of course all that changed when he realized that the legal situation here was not the same as in his homeland. Dr. Chopra soon realizes that he isn't cut out to be an actual doctor, so he takes a cab for a living and becomes a taxi driver. Along with the many attempts to find the correct Physicians' license Dr. Chopra's life is somewhat complicated with a lawyer friend, his wife, two young daughters, a cabbie named Tony and a good friend who's a woman and his niece. d2c66b5586
