If you receive an unsolicited email or link, check the authenticity of the link, sender, and the website before opening it. Here's what you can do to avoid falling for a phishing scam:
Look out for bad spelling in the sender's email address.
Be wary of links that are unusual, or take you to a page with a different URL to the one the link takes you to.
Verify the site name, and the domain of the site, before you click.
Never open an attachment or click on a link in an email that was unsolicited.
Never provide any personal information in response to a phishing scam or any other type of unsolicited email.
Never share your account information or login details for your account with anyone you haven't met in person or spoken to on the phone.
When a site requires a password, do not re-use the same password across multiple sites. Use a unique password for each site you use. The same rules of common password sins apply to the password manager as they do when picking individual passwords: avoid common, easily guessable passwords like your birthday and account number; use a strong, random password; and use a password manager. 827ec27edc
